'I wasn't going to let her die'

Linslade hero in burning car drama

Modest hero Mark Turner has spoken about how he risked his own life to dramatically drag a woman from her blazing car.

Mark, 26, of Bideford Green, Linslade, was on his way to a murder/mystery evening at canalside pub The Globe when the drama unfolded.

He said: "I intended and was walking on the grass verge when a car travelling towards Leighton just flew off the road and crashed into the trees. It just burst into flames."

Mark said he ran across the road and could see the woman in the driver's seat with the flames all around her.

He said: "She was trapped at an awkward angle by the seatbelt.

"I knew I had to do something, I wasn't going to let her die."
