Important work at All Saints
Another inspecton of the Leighton church's spire
Steeplejacks will be visible on the 190ft spire of Leighton Buzzard's All Saints Church as it undergoes inspection in the coming weeks.
Following the fire in 1985, the spire has had to be ladder inspected every two and half years to ensure that the repairs made then have properly stabilised and no further problems have appeared.
The last inspection in 2007 revealed loose stone in one of the pinnacles which required urgent attention, but this time church officials are hoping that all will be well.
"Caring for an old building such as All Saints is always going to be hard," said fabric committee chairman Terry Warburton,
He added: "We could do without this expensive requirement at such short intervals.
"But we are assured by our architect that this is necessary at least for the foreseeable future"
