Investment in railway station up for discussion

editorial image

Plans for works at Leighton Buzzard’s railway station are to be revealed as councillors discuss Network Rail proposals.

Tomorrow’s planning committee meeting will be attended by Jill Stephenson of Network Rail who has been invited ahead of submitting a planning application for the works.

The consultation will allow members of the committee to find out more about Network Rail’s ‘Access for All’ programme that aims to provide step-free access at stations across the country.

A new bridge with lifts is being proposed, but because of capacity constraints and fire regulations, the existing station footbridge cannot be adapted, therefore a new structure is required.

The meeting will be held at The White House, Hockliffe Street, Leighton, at 7.30pm.
