An 18-year-old man was left with a fractured skull after being seriously assaulted outside a Leighton Buzzard bar at the weekend.

The assault happened at around 3.30am in the early hours of Saturday morning after the victim and his friends had been on a night out at Bar Buddha in Bridge Street.

The victim was taken to hospital because of bleeding from his ear and was then sent home, but returned the next day and was hospitalised overnight.

A test revealed that the youngster had suffered a fractured skull as well as bruising to the brain.

The offender is described as being a white male, in his 40s, around five feet five inches tall and of stocky build and was wearing a blue checked shirt.

He had a number of gold rings, some stubble and spoke with an Irish accent.

Detective Constable Martin Hart, who is investigating the incident, is keen to hear from independent witnesses who saw the assault or from anyone who can help identify the offender.

If you have information relating to this incident, contact DC Hart, in confidence, on 01582 394068, the non-emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011.

Alternatively contact independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.
