Leighton couple face fraud charges

A married couple from Leighton have been charged with fraud offences following an investigation into the stolen charity funds belonging to the Royal British Legion.

Andrew Pullen, 51 and his wife Georgina, aged 52, of Bassett Road, were charged with fraud by abuse of position on Friday.

It is alleged that between October 2008 and May 2011 the couple stole about £8,000 from funds gained by charitable means while acting as treasurer and secretary for the Leighton Buzzard branch of the charity.

They have both been released on bail to appear at Luton Magistrates Court on October 24.
