A herd of cows escaped from a Leighton Buzzard field yesterday causing traffic chaos for many drivers on their way to work.
Witnesses say five police cars and a scientific unit van were at the scene of Vandyke Road after the cows broke free at 8.05am.
Officers contacted the farmer who began moving the cows back onto their field and securing the fence.
The road was cleared of the cattle by 9.12am.
A Beds Police spokesman said: “It appears that a number of cows had escaped from the field and were causing traffic issues.
“All animals were rounded up, returned to their field and the farmer has secured the fencing.”
