A Leighton musician has made it through to the regional finals of Open Mic UK.

Keziah Young, 22, of Pennivale Close, sang her heart out during the recent auditions of the national talent competition which searches for the UK’s best singers, singer/songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres who perform either covers or original material.

Keziah said: “I’m very excited about getting through to the regional finals, I look forward to playing and singing in front of a large live audience, but I’m sure when it gets nearer the time my nerves will start to make an appearance – although if I can deal with them I believe that I can make it through to the next round, fingers crossed.”

Keziah’s current day job is working at Elm Lodge Care Home of Stoke Road, Leighton, but she will soon be performing at the live stages of Open Mic UK 2012 on Sunday, October 28 at a comedy club called Highlight in Watford, after catching the judges’ eye during audtions.

She is now in the running to compete for a place in the national final at the O2 Arena in London after competing against thousands of hopefuls who entered nationwide.

As Keziah progresses further in the competition she and her rivals will have the opportunity to impress many guests from record labels, agencies and the entertainment industry with KISS FM’s Charlie Hedges already confirmed to join this year’s grand final panel.
