The motorist who died after being involved in an accident in Leighton Road, Stanbridge has been named as Hannah Heady of Richmond Road, Leighton.
The pensioner died on February 25 when her Nissan Micra was in an accident with a Kia Sorento.
She was taken to the Luton & Dunstable Hospital after being cut from her vehicle but died of her injuries.
A post mortem revealed that she died of a pelvic fracture and brain injuries.
The inquest was opened on Tuesday and adjourned until a later date.
