The final stage of works on Leighton’s Lake Street is due to be completed by the end of this week.
The area, that saw traffic lights turned into a roundabout outside Morrisons along with other improvements, has caused town traffic disruption since the beginning of last year.
Councillor Brian Spurr, executive member for sustainable communities services said: “We’ve made some good progress on the Lake Street works in the past week, with new electrical connections going in along Stanbridge Road and work on the footpaths going well.
“We’ll be installing a railing system on the bridge this week and, weather permitting, we hope to be finished by the end of the week.
“We’re grateful for people’s patience throughout and we are really pleased by how the changes have improved the whole area - especially the traffic flow.”
