Linslade flat wrecked in blaze
Leighton Buzzard fire crews battle blaze.
A LINSLADE youth has been taken to hospital suffering from severe smoke inhalation following a blaze which destroyed an apartment in a block of flats at lunchtime today (Friday).
The victim, a man in his 20s, met fire-fighters at the flats in Springfield Court, at the junction of Springfield Road and Soulbury Road, and told them someone was trapped inside the premises.
A thorough and repeated search of the flat failed to uncover anyone else. A woman in a neighbouring flat was led to safety and given oxygen to combat the effects of smoke.
It is believed to be the second time the flat has been wrecked by fire. A similar blaze occurred about five years ago.
A full investigation has been launched into the cause of the inferno which is understood to have started around the living room sofa.
Fire-fighters from Leighton and Dunstable attended the scene and quickly brought the blaze under control.
The fire victim was treated by paramedics at the scene before he was taken to the Luton & Dunstable Hospital.
