London Midland fails to impress in new survey

Leighton Buzzard train station’s rail company has been ranked fifth from bottom in a customer satisfaction service.
Only 45 per cent of London Midland customers said they are satisfied with the service, according to a Which? survey that was revealed today.
First Capital Connect was bottom in the 19-company satisfaction table with a total of just 40 per cent, but more than half of train companies scored a customer satisfaction percentage of 50 or lower.
Coming in at number one was Virgin Trains scoring 67 per cent satisfaction.
This revelation comes a month after a larger survey suggested the number of satisfied rail passengers was at a record high of 85%.
The National Passenger Survey by Passenger Focus asked 31,626 travellers, while the Which? survey was compiled from responses from 7,500 regular rail users.
After reading about London Midland’s ranking, surprised commuters took to Twitter to say they were happy with the service.
Zoltan Takacs said: “I’m always surprised to see this, I must be the luckiest person, but I have never had a problem with them.”
David Leach said: “You know the bulk of delays on London Midland trains aren’t actually their fault. Generally infrastructure problems so gripes should be with Network rail who maintain the tracks.”
Jools Page said: “London Midland scored that low? Clean trains, with staff. Not always on time, but more often than not. Surprised.”
In light of the results of this new survey, a London Midland spokesperson said, “Independent watchdog Passenger Focus last month reported that 83% of passengers are satisfied with London Midland services.
“This survey also saw us achieve some of the highest scores of the London Midland franchise so far.
“We will continue to work hard to deliver services that passengers want and expect.”
