Central Beds Council is appealing for people to be a part of a new service helping adults with learning disabilities access everyday life opportunities.

Shared Lives Carers help those with a learning disability perform the sort of day-to-day activities that many people take for granted.

The support is flexible and can range from going out for coffee or to the cinema, to offering overnight stays in your own home or even having someone live with you as part of your family.

Shared Lives Bedfordshire can even match you up with someone with similar interests and hobbies.

Councillor Carole Hegley, said: “Working as a Shared Lives Carer is hugely rewarding - what could be better than knowing that you are making a real difference to someone’s life?”

Shared Lives offers full training and ongoing support – as well as payments and tax incentives – for carers.
