Man attacked with weapon in street robbery

A man was struck on the side of his head with a weapon after refusing to hand over his mobile phone while walking in Leighton Buzzard with a friend.

A 25-year-old male victim and a friend were approached by an offender with his hands in his pockets asking for their mobile phones on Plantation Road at around 2.30am on September 29.

When the pair refused, the offender struck the victim to the side of the head with a weapon before punching him in the face, at which point the offender took the victim’s mobile phone.

A second offender then joined in the attack and pushed the victim to the floor and kicked and punched him to the head. before fleeing towards the town centre.

Both of the offenders had their faces covered during the attack and the victim was unable to confirm the ethnicity of the individuals, but the first offender is thought to be in his late teens, around six feet tall and of slender build.

He was wearing a dark hooded top with a cargo style jacket, which had a silver zip and four pockets on the front, over it, black jogging bottoms and black trainers.

He also wore a black scarf across his face which only exposed his eyes and the second offender was wearing dark clothing and a balaclava.

Detective Constable Lucy Arnold, who is investigating the other incident, is keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the attack, or may have seen the offenders in the Plantation Road area either before or after the robbery and can be contacted, in confidence, on 01582 473347.
