Man robbed at knifepoint in Leighton Buzzard

Police need witnesses.

Police in Leighton Buzzard are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed at knifepoint by three youths.

It happened at 3.05pm on Monday, March 23, at the narrow gauge railway near Lywood Road as the 27-year-old victim approached a pedestrian crossing.

Three young men were hanging around the area and as the victim tried to pass one produced a knife, grabbed his black leather Adidas bag and punched him in the eye.

All three offenders made off into Richmond Road with the satchel-style bag, which featured a green and pink stripe across the middle and contained property including a black leather wallet, a Fabel II X Box 360 game and a Pro Evo soccer game.

PC Sam Shane, investigating, said one of the offenders was white, aged about 20, 6ft 1ins and had big ears. He wore a light grey hooded tracksuit and trainers.

The second was white, aged about 19, 5ft 10ins tall, with dark brown hair. He wore a navy blue hooded tracksuit and black trainers.

The third was white, aged about 19, slim, 5ft 11ins tall and wore a dark tracksuit, mainly blue Adidas jacket and white trainers.

PC Shane said: "This was a nasty, unprovoked assault on this young man and I am keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened, knows who is involved or has been offered any of the stolen property."

Anyone with information can contact PC Shane, in confidence, on 01234 841212, Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or text to 07786 200011.
