Man arrested in murder probe
Police investigate
Police have released on bail a 22-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder following the disappearance of a pensioner from a house in Drayton Parslow.
The man, from London, was picked up detectives from Thames Valley Police on Friday. Meanwhile officers have made a thorough search of the Prospect Close garden belonging to missing man, Samuel Alexander, also known as Sami Yacoub El-Kayoubi.
An appeal has gone out after there has been no corroborated sighting of the 70-year-old since August 2009.
Mr Alexander has receding grey hair, dark eyes and occasionally wears glasses. He has olive-coloured skin, is of slight build and walks with a stoop, possibly aided by a walking frame. He usually wears neutral, plain shirts and trousers.
The pensioner is originally from Egypt and has lived in England for many years.
Det Ch Insp Joe Kidman, who is leading the investigation, said: "Officers have arrested someone in connection with Mr Alexander's disappearance.
"However, this is one element in a large investigation to find a man about whom we have very serious concerns. I would ask anyone who may be able to assist us with the whereabouts of Mr Alexander since August 2009 to come forward."
Anyone who has seen Mr Alexander or who knows where he is should contact Aylesbury police station on 08458 505505, quoting URN 1467 of 6 February 2010. If you do not want to speak to the police, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555111.
You can also give information to the police in person by visiting any police station. Find the opening times of your local police station via the police website www.thamesvalley.police.uk or by phoning 08458 505505.
