Man critical after suspected arson attack

Woman arrested after flat blaze

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a man suffered life-threatening injuries in a flat fire in Leighton Buzzard.

The man, believed to be in his 60s, was carried unconscious from Kilgour Court in Bassett Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was taken to hospital and then to a specialist burns unit in Chelmsford, Essex, as he had suffered 35m per cent burns.

Three fire crews were called at about 12.30am and found 80 per cent of the property engulfed in flames.
