The number of unemployed claimants in South West Beds has fallen from 1,952 to 1,311 in the past year.
The current rate is 2.4% of the economically active population aged 16-64 and is the 450th highest of all the 650 UK constituencies.
In the figures from the independent Office of National Statistics, 1st is the highest rate of unemployment and 650th is the lowest rate.
The number of claimants in December 2013 was 641 lower than in December 2012 and 55 lower than in November 2013. In December 2013 there were 915 fewer people on Jobseekers Allowance in South West Beds than there had been in March.
South West Beds has also improved its position in relation to other constituencies as in March 2013 it had the 375th highest level of unemployment of any constituency and by December it had had the 450th highest level of constituency unemployment.
Commenting on the figures, South West Beds MP Andrew Selous said: “The provision of jobs for my constituents is one of my very highest priorities.
“It is very good to see the number of people claiming Jobseekers Allowance falling further.
“I will continue to do everything I can to help local employers set up and expand their businesses.
“Nationally it is very good to see that 1.6 million new private sector jobs have been created in the last three years as well as 400,000 new businesses. “It is also encouraging to see more people and more women in work than ever before as well as 70% of the increase in employment since the election being made up of full time jobs.”
