Three horses currently based on a field off Grovebury Road in Leighton Buzzard have provoked concern from passersbys over their living conditions.
Speaking to the LBO this week, a woman who did not wish to be named, said: “There is no sign of any food, nothing to eat at all for them – not even water.
“I have had horses my whole life, so when I went past them on the field I wish I hadn’t after seeing them like that.
“It made me think of what awful things happened at Spindles Farm in Bucks, where 18 horses were killed, and, it’s like, have they got to be dead before something is done about it?
“I called the RSPCA to tell them about it and they didn’t seem to care, so the LBO is my last hope.”
An RSPCA spokesman said: “The RSPCA is aware of the owner of the three horses in a field off Grovebury Road in Leighton Buzzard and has worked with them to try to improve the health and living conditions of the horses.
“We are extremely grateful to the public for raising their concerns and we would like to reassure them that we are continuing to monitor the situation.”
