New federation forges valuable links

RESIDENTS and tenants in Leighton have joined forces to form a new federation.

Due to the on-going growth in the town, residents and tenants associations have been rejuvenated – and this federation is seen as a way to forge a link between all the different associations.

The Federation of Residents and Tenants Associations in Leighton-Linslade (FORATAILL) includes member representation from Baker Street, Billington Park, Brooklands, Central Linslade, Meadow Way, Pages Park, Sandhills, Steppingstone Place and The Vynes.

Their aim is to improve the quality of life for local residents by working in partnership with a number of organisations and agencies.

As the group evolves it hopes to play a major part in local plans and decision-making as a recognised consultant for important organisations like local authorities and

police.

The group was officially launched after months of work last Thursday in the council chamber at the White House.

Robert Rowley, Chairman of FORTATAILL, said: "I would like to express my thanks to Leighton-Linslade Town Council for providing us with the opportunity to make this federation a reality.

"Also to Zulf Awan, Darren Morris of South Bedfordshire District Council and to John Gelder and Jenny Althorp from Voluntary and Community Action South Bedfordshire who continue to work with us to guide us along the right path!

"The links we are now forging with partner organisations will provide a network of support and the opportunity to be a representative group that organisations will value at their consultation tables."

The federation's first meeting will be on April 30 at the White House and will be open to all residents wishing to find out more.
