New classroom is great
RECEPTION children at Pulford Lower School started their school life in a newly-extended and lovingly refurbished classroom.
The new classroom is part of the old school building, built over 120 years ago. While providing an attractive setting this original building was rather cramped for the requirements of the modern Foundation Stage curriculum.
But not any more, after 50,000 was invested in a summer project.
For retiring head teacher, Jim Meager, the improvements are the culmination of a ten-year programme to transform the fabric and facilities at the school.
Mr Meager said: "At our last Ofsted, our reception provision was recognised as outstanding. The only comment was that a bigger and more flexible space would allow us to do even more, making sure children had the best possible start."
The project was possible because of a government programme called Building Schools for the Future.
"Thanks to the support of the governors and the Pulford Trust we have been able to play our part", said Mr Meager.
"The advert went out this week to recruit my successor, and when the new head teacher is appointed then I will be delighted to be able to pass on state-of-the-art facilities to match the excellent standard of teaching and learning at the school."
