No final decision over Linslade Tennis Club’s funding

The ball is in Leighton-Linslade Town Council’s court as the wait goes on for a decision to be made over funding for a sports club.

Linslade Tennis Club has been trying to secure £20,000 funding needed for extra facilities towards the cost of a clubhouse building at Mentmore Park.

But last Monday the Policy and Finance Committee agreed in principle to find the money, meaning there was no final decision to grant the funding.

Councillor Mike Bishop, who attended the meeting, said: “I sense that the representative of the Tennis Club was disappointed that a final decision could not be made at this meeting after it had been recommended by the Town Council’s Leisure and Community Committee.

“However, Mentmore Park is owned by the Town Council so legal details over ownership and future maintenance and use of the building will have to be resolved.

“The Council’s own plans for the existing Pavilion and park also have to be taken into account.”
