No fines stink in dog poo row
Dog poo
Central Beds Council revealed this week that its dog wardens hadn’t given out any fines, anywhere in the district, to owners who fail to pick up their pets’ poo in public places.
Their news comes after Leighton resident Jean Batey hit out at lazy dog owners who fail to clear up after their dogs. Mrs Batey, of Church Street, called for tougher penalties.
But a spokesman for CBC admitted this week that, although dog owners could get a £75 fine if spotted by a warden, the two wardens employed to patrol the entire district, hadn’t given out any penalties in the last 12 months.
She said: “They do actively patrol in problem areas, as required. They patrol the streets and public open areas. In the last year, there have not been any fixed penalty notices issued”.
