Official opening of Children’s Trail in Leighton town centre
Children's author Julia Jarman
Inspired by the magic of fiction, a hotly anticipated adventure trail is officially opening in Leighton town centre.
The Children’s Trail will feature 22 imaginitive pieces of art inspired by characters and text from children’s literature, which will weave through and around the town.
Popular children’s author Julia Jarman, who wrote ‘The Time-Travelling Cat’ series of books, is due to be at the launch of the Trail on August 25 at 11.30am.
Cllr Angela Barker, Chairman of Central Bedfordshire Council and the Mayor of Leighton Linslade Town Council, Cllr Alan Brandham, will both be at the launch of the town’s very own adventure trail.
Cllr Brian Spurr, Executive Member for Sustainable Communities Services at Central Bedfordshire Council, said: “The trail will inspire both residents and visitors and build upon the rich literary heritage of the town in a fun and exciting way.
The launch will include Alice in Wonderland street performers, free Mad Hatter’s hat making, face painting sessions and a special screening of ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’ at Leighton Buzzard Theatre.
The public is also welcome to follow the Trail, with maps being made available at the library.
See next week’s LBO for more about this exciting development for the town.
