Pay protest

editorial image

Bedfordshire Euro MP Richard Howitt has backed calls to scrap Government plans for regional pay in the county, as a new poll shows people in the region are opposed to ‘a low pay charter’.

People living in the East of England say Government plans for postcode pay in the public sector are unfair and would be bad for NHS patients and schoolchildren in poorer areas, according to the polling published by the TUC.

Mr Howitt said: “I’m backing the call to scrap the plan which would be a low pay charter denying our children the best teachers and the best doctors”.
