Pirates land at Mary Bassett
A HA me hearties! There was plenty of swashbuckling fun at Mary Bassett Lower School, Leighton, when children learned all about pirates.
Youngsters had spent the week taking part in the national theme, drawing treasure maps, building a pirate ship and singing sea shanties and pirate songs.
On Friday, to end the week's fun, teachers and children dressed up as pirates and showed their work to parents and friends of the school.
Headteacher Deborah Pargeter said: “The pirate theme inspired some fantastic work particularly in children's writing.
“We combined this with a reading at home fortnight and a third of children received prizes for super reading at home.”
“The children had a fantastic time on the final day – plenty of pirates and pirate-wenches about!”
