Police launch campaign against summer raves in Bedfordshire.

BEDS Police, are calling on the public for help to combat illegal raves this summer.
Officers, who will be running an initiative called Operation Extra, want residents to get in contact if they suspect a rave is being planned in their area as early information is critical to prevent a rave taking place.
Tell tale signs include large convoys of vehicles travelling through the county or driving around in circles waiting for last minute telephone directions to rave events in areas like private fields, farm buildings or old warehouses. Others include cryptic messages on web sites, noticeboards and venues where young people congregate.
Chief Inspector, Neill Waring, said because such events are unlicensed, they presented a health and safety risk to those people who attend them and are often associated with drugs.
Police are also aware of how the excessive noise generated can cause misery for residents for miles around.
He warned that police will prosecute those responsible for possession and supply of drugs, criminal damage to property like gates and fences, motoring offences or other crimes.
He said: "The key to disrupting raves is early intervention, but to do that we need prior intelligence of events happening so we can get appropriate police resources in place. It is only by working together with the community we stand a better chance of having a more peaceful summer."
