THE future of children’s centre provisions in Central Bedfordshire are to be discussed on Tuesday at the council’s head office at Chicksands when proposed changes and possible closures will be considered after consultation. Linslade’s provision could be affected.
The core purpose of Children’s Centres, which come under the Sure Start Scheme, is to improve outcomes for young children and their families by working with families of young children, often termed as “early intervention”.
They have a particular focus on the most disadvantaged families, in order to reduce inequalities in child development and readiness for school and to support parents aspirations, self-esteem and parenting skills, child and family health and life chances.
