Public address system postponed

editorial image

A plan to install speakers in Leighton town centre has been put on hold following concerns over the noise and cost of the project.

A conservation officer from Central Bedfordshire Council was approached to provide advice on a public address system being installed to the front of buildings.

Concern was raised over the size of the speakers and what they would actually be used for, with the thought of music being played through the ten speakers around the town being frowned upon.

During a meeting of the Leighton-Linslade Town Council partnership committee meeting on Thursday, it was agreed the project would not be going ahead this year, but a report will be drafted to explain where the speakers will be and what they will be used for.
