Push-me-pull-you trains beat the big freeze

WHEN the icy weather prevented the completion of track repair works on the run-round loop at Leighton Buzzard narrow gauge railway, this gave the volunteers a problem - how to run passenger trains during the half-term holiday, without being able to put the locomotive on the other end for the return journey?

The answer was simple. Have a locomotive on each end of the coaches, and this is how the first day of the half-term operation went ahead. A similar operation is planned for Wednesday 15 and Sunday, February 19.

The half-term service is a 25-minute round trip from Page’s Park to Leedon and back, and is operated with diesel locomotives. There are frequent departures from 10.40am to 3pm.
