Refurb plan for town's play areas
A NUMBER of the town's play areas are to be refurbished.
Many of Leighton's parks haven't been updated in over 12 years so the Town Council has said it is ready to fork out on some new equipment.
The areas that will be touched-up include Parsons Close Recreation Ground, Mill Road, Adams Bottom and Alwins Field. A new toddler site will also be built at Mentmore Road Memorial Playing Fields.
Deputy Town Clerk, Linda Carter, said: "The last major refurbishment of the town's play areas was in 1994 and a lot of the play equipment has come to the end of its useful life. Our parks play an important part in the life of the community and the Town Council hopes to create some exciting new play experiences in the
coming months."
Play equipment suppliers have been busy designing some possible lay-out ideas and the Town Council is giving residents a chance to comment on the suggested schemes at an informal exhibition in the council chamber at the White House.
All the designs will be on display and children are welcome to accompany their parents to the consultation, with councillors keen to hear their views and find out what they like best.
The consultation takes place from Thursday April 12 to Saturday April 14.
