Road crash victim is named

Heath and Reach soldier died in Hampshire accident

Police have named the Heath and Reach man who died following a fatal crash on the A339 in Hampshire on Saturday, July 24.

Wesley Botha was travelling north towards Basingstoke when he was involved in a collision with a tractor.

The 23-year-old, who was a soldier, sustained serious life threatening injuries as a result of the crash, which happened at about 11.40am.

He was taken to North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke, where he later died.

The tractor driver, a 16-year-old boy from Basingstoke, was uninjured.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to get in touch.

Anyone with any information that could assist with the investigation is asked to contact Sergeant Shaun Hopkins or PC Robert Levey at Farnborough Roads Policing Unit, quoting Operation Leader, on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
