Words fans will be scrabbling to enter a new event planned for this Saturday that hopes to rack up a bumper score for charity.
The Leighton branch of the MS Society is hosting a Scrabble tournament at St Barnabas Church, Linslade,
It has been organised by volunteer fundraiser Georgie Burchell with help from branch chairman Ian Butterfield, his wife Karen.
Said Georgie: “The money raised will be spent on research into better treatments and ultimately a cure for the condition.”
Karen, 52, who has had MS for 30 years, and has been reliant on a wheelchair for the last five years, said: “Even with my disability I am sure I can win a scrabble contest against my husband Ian!”
Anyone wanting to take part must register in advance by calling Georgie 07521752199 or email firstname.lastname@example.org The tournament start at 11am. There is a new players division available for all - no tournament experience necessary!
