Sky’s the limit in hunt for nostalgic photographs

More than 15,000 images from one of the earliest and most significant collections of aerial photography of the UK have been made freely accessible online to the public for the first time.

The collection includes many stunning aerial images across Leighton and Central Beds.

Britain from Above, a new website by English Heritage and the Royal Commissions On The Ancient And Historical Monuments Of Scotland And Wales, features some of the oldest and most valuable images.

The pictures are from the Aerofilms Collection, which is a unique archive of more than a million aerial photographs taken between 1919 and 2006 and the public are invited to browse the collection and tag places of interest.

See next week’s LBO for more images from LBO land.
