Sleep . . . and quit the fags for good
Hypnotherapist Caroline Mann offers to help
IT'S National No Smoking Day on March 10 and if you tried to give up the fags with the help of patches or gum with little success why not look to an alternatively therapy to stub out your habit Paul McKenna-style?
Leighton's answer to the famous hypnotising guru is hypnotherapist Caroline Mann.
The mum-of-two is holding a charity event at Vandyke Upper School in Vandyke Road on Wednesday, March 10, at 7.30pm. The event will be a group hypnotherapy session for smokers determined to quit for good.
A place in the session will cost just 20, all going to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Qualified hypnotist Caroline has a treatment room in Leighton at her home in Middleton Way, and also in Harley Street, London, called Therapy By Hypnosis.
Smokers will be hypnotised in order to re-train their brain into not craving a cigarette and Caroline is confident she can return the person to a non-smoker. She also deals with issues about weight gain after quitting.
Caroline said: "It is an alternative way to give up smoking which has produced good results. Immediate health benefits from giving up are fantastic."
Those a little shy on the night will be given a 25 per cent discount voucher if they prefer a one-to-one session normally costing 90.
LBO readers on production of this article can get 15 per cent off of any hypnotherapy treatment at a later date.
Caroline said: "I am registered with the General Hypnotherapy Register.
Helping people to give up smoking is just one item covered. Popular treatments are weight control and alleviating fears or phobias."
So why is Caroline offering her help to smokers in Leighton and Linslade?
She said: "Although my life hasn't been immediately touched by the cancer disease, I have seen the emotional turmoil and physical pain that it can cause from a close friend being affected and my uncle dying from it. I think we all know someone who has been affected by cancer.
So, I decided to see how best any profits could benefit the local community and came across the Macmillan Cancer Support website.
"As I looked through the website I was really touched at how strong people are who have to deal with this disease, whether it be personally or through looking after loved ones. I will benefit greatly from the knowledge that I am helping people kick a habit they may not otherwise be able to do.
"I enjoy hypnotherapy so much. I get immense pleasure from being able to do some good in life – to give something back."
