Steam railway half term fun
FEBRUARY half-term holiday is well under way and it looks like being a chilly one. But the volunteers of the Leighton Buzzard Railway will still be putting on a train service on three days.
Because of the chilly spell, the train ride will be shorter than usual — a 25-minute return trip instead of the usual 70, and will be hauled by diesel locomotives, as all of the steamers are being prepared for their annual boiler tests. Tickets will, of course, also be cheaper than usual.
The half-term service will run on Sunday 12, Wednesday 15 and Sunday 19 with regular departures from Page’s Park station from 10.40am to 3pm.
The Leighton Buzzard Railway is nationally accredited by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council, and has been operated and managed by volunteers, on a non-profit basis, since 1968. It was built in 1919 to serve the local sand quarrying industry. for more information see its website on www.buzzrail.co.uk
