A Vandyke Upper School student has been accepted into the National Youth Theatre (NYT).
Year 9 pupil Molly Wasway has successfully auditioned for The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and will spend two weeks at residential training with the theatre at LABAN in London during the summer.
On completion of the course she will be able to attend further workshops and will be considered for major NYT productions.
Alumni of the National Youth Theatre include global icons such as Dame Helen Mirren, Colin Firth, Orlando Bloom, Daniel Craig and many more.
Molly auditioned just a few weeks after discussing opportunities nationally in drama at a parent consultation evening.
“The audition was fun and everyone made you feel encouraged,” she said. “I had help from the Vandyke drama team to prepare a monologue which the audition panel really loved.
“I couldn’t believe it when I found out that I’d got in, thousands and thousands of people audition and only a few are chosen. I love being on stage, you get to play roles that are not you, it’s all just so fantastic.”
