Thieves target unlocked cars in villages around Leighton
Public warned after a spate of thefts in Stewkley and Stoke Hammond.
PEOPLE living in the Stoke Hammond and Stewkley areas are being urged to lock their cars after a spate of thefts when vehicles are parked on owners' drives.
On Monday morning last week a Satnav was stolen from the glovebox of a vehicle parked on Manor Drive, Stewkley and between midnight and 12.30pm on Monday thieves stole cigarettes from a vehicle on High Street North. Both vehicles had been left insecure.
On Thursday last week four vehicles were broken into in Stoke Hammond plus a garden shed.
PCSO Paula BOSTON of the Wing North Neighbourhood Team, said: "We would like to stress to car owners that these offenders are about in the villages and to make sure their vehicles are locked with belongings taken out. Preferably open the glove box to display that nothing is left inside.
"All the above were thefts from vehicles and all the vehicles were left unlocked mainly on the drive way."
Police would also like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed anything in relation to the thefts.
