Town wins travel award
ASSORTED means of transport to get to Leighton Buzzard Railway station has won the town a national award.
The community-led travel plan ‘Get On Track’ launched in 2009 resulted in the Leighton-Linslade town council working very closely with various organisations to make commuters aware of different modes of transport other than cars.
Central Beds Council, London Midland, local bus operators and town groups all got on board to highlight different options such as walking, cycling and bus services and the decision has earned them the top national award for local transport integration organised by the Association of Community Rail Partnerships.
