A helpless mother had to wait for fire fighters to rescue her baby from the back of a car after it automatically locked in the supermarket car park.
Leighton Buzzard fire crews were called to Morrisons in Lake Street at 4pm yesterday where a young baby was trapped inside a Ford Focus.
Crew Commander John Field who attended the scene, said the young child’s mother was helped by passersby who called the fire service for help.
Mr Field said: “We were able to gain entry into the car and safely remove the child. It looked like the car had managed to lock itself after the lady had put her child in its safety seat and closed the door.
“We would like to thank the woman involved for being so calm in the situation and also the passersby who were very helpful.”
