Councillors have this morning backed an outline planning application for the future of east Leighton Buzzard.
The East Leighton Development Plan’s first application was granted permission at Central Beds Council’s special development management committee.
Protests from parish councils, the police, residents and action groups were rebuffed by planning officers whose report said the development is vital to provide much needed housing and jobs for the district – and councillors agreed.
Willis Dawson plan is for 1,210 homes, employment, retail, leisure and community zones on 300 acres of Green Belt land at Clipstone Park, which stretches from Stanbridge Road to Vandyke Road.
The area would be served by a new link road which, say CBC, would relieve congestion from the town centre.
See Tuesday’s LBO for a full report on the decision.
