Reece Blair, aged 19, is on a golf scholarship at Murray State College in Oklahoma and hopes to turn pro while out in the US.

A member of Woburn Golf Club, Reece’s family live in Leighton Buzzard, and he has won the Regional Championship in Oklahoma and will tee-off in the nationals in Indiana in May.

Reece, who played for Bedfordshire County teams in both junior and mens, won the South of England Boys Championship for Cedars when he was aged 15.

He started his scholarship last August and will be at the college for two years and hopes to continue on a further after that.

At the Oklahoma regionals, Murray College won the event while Reece won the individual trophy.

His mum Beverley said: “Reece has already been approached by a few universities in America as he also came 4th at the Embry Riddle Eagle Invitational in Florida in March.”
