VIDEO: Leighton’s flood risk drop-in event

Waiting for Video...

Those concerned about Leighton’s flood risk had the opportunity to visit a drop-in information event in the town today.

Environment Agency staff were showing the prototype of their latest flood map and helped to visitors tips on how to prepare for floods, to reduce their potential impact and listen to people’s flood concerns and experiences.

The Environment Agency has responsibilities to manage flood risk from main rivers, which in Leighton are the River Ouzel and the Clipstone Brook, downstream of Hydrus Drive.

The event was held today between 2pm and 7pm at Beaudesert Lower School, Appenine Way.

You can check to see if you are at risk of flooding by visiting www.environment-agency.gov.uk and by following the links to Flooding, or by calling Floodline Warnings Direct on 0845 988 1188.
