A Leighton butcher says he has come up trumps against the horse meat scandal and is hoping to remain top of the town’s food chain by continually evolving.

Andrew Stanton, owner of H.G. Stratton, believes his family business can continue to evolve and maintain a strong presence in the town by ‘regenerating’.

He said: “We get our regular bread and butter customers each week who are the most important people, but when these health scares are in the press it seems to be great for us and we get a massive boost of business through that.

“Over the last 40 years we have regenerated ourselves and will soon incorporate the fast-food industry that we are in today by offering ready meals with fresh meat and vegetables.”
