VIDEO: New ostrich chicks at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo

Delightful duo already spotted by visitors

There was no chance for the newest arrivals at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo to be shy or bury their heads in the sand.

For the two cute ostrich chicks have already been spotted by passing visitors, despite being just eight inches tall.

It is the first time in years that Whipsnade has reared ostrich chicks and keepers are pleased by their progress – although they still have quite a way to go before they reach the huge height of their parents.

A male ostrich can grow up to eight feet in height.

The parents of the delightful duo chose a sandy site, near the zoo's Wild Bite Caf and Jumbo Express railway to lay their eggs.

Pop in to see the chicks this weekend. The zoo is open 10am to 7pm on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday and until 6pm on Saturday.
