Volunteers shout about their FREEgle Leighton business

A Leighton duo have teamed up to run a Leighton Buzzard service to encourage people to not throw away unwanted household items, but to swap them amongst themselves instead.

Simon Cansdale, 51, of Southcourt Avenue, has been a volunteer moderator for Leighton Buzzard Freegle since 2005 and works from home when time allows as does his co-worker Emma Sherwood of Eaton Bray.

Simon said: “I am very keen on the environment and try to do all I can to reduce my impact on it. I had been moaning to a work colleague in London about the fact that I had to take some good stuff to the tip. It wasn’t good enough to be sold, but too god to be thrown away.

“He told me about a group in London that allowed members to offer their usable items to other local members, using the internet. I investigated and discovered that there wasn’t a group in Leighton Buzzard, so I set up the Leighton Buzzard Freegle.”
