Watchdog supports fight to save post office

Objection made.

INDEPENDENT watchdog Postwatch has objected to the plan to shut down Linslade Post Office.

In its submission to the Post Office's consultation, on its branch closure proposals, Postwatch formally opposed the closure of Linslade Post Office and High Street South, Dunstable, post office.

Andrew Selous said: "While I am naturally disappointed that Postwatch have not opposed all five proposed branch closures in my constituency, I am delighted that Postwatch have at least opposed these two proposed closures. I am also pleased that the Linslade and High Street South, Dunstable branches were listed at the top of Postwatch's objections for the whole of Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and South Lincolnshire."

The Post Office will announce its closure decisions next Wednesday (September 17).

Postmistress Nasreen Razzaq from the New Road post office was not available for comment.
