Woburn’s olympic connection

Sculpture presented to Michael Phelps

Sculpture presented to Michael Phelps

An art gallery in Woburn has made a splash with its involvement in supplying a sculpture to the sensational swimmer Michael Phelps.

Bedford Street Gallery was approached by the Federation of International Aquatics (FINA) on the 31st of July asking for potential sculptures to Phelps as a special award for his Olympic achievements.

Johann Bester, director at Bedford Street Gallery, said they were only given two days to prepare what piece they would submit.

He said: “We weren’t allowed to say or do anything in that time to anyone about what we were doing, so it was very hard to keep our traps shut.”

Find out more about why the gallery had to keep schtum in next week’s LBO.
