Her Majesty Queen Victoria is delighted to be meeting the people of Leighton Buzzard on Sunday, September 22 at the Past, Present and Future Market Day .
Part of the Queen’s visit will involve a Royal walk-about, meeting and greeting Market Traders.
However a suitable Lady and/or Gentleman is needed to accompany her Majesty.
A Leighton-Linslade Town Council spokesman said: “Is there anyone in the town who feels confident enough to apply for such a prestigious appointment?
“There is no remuneration offered (even Royalty is experiencing cutbacks, as are we all.)
“However such a unique opportunity will surely provide ample reward, affording proud memories for decades to come.”
“As befits such an occasion applicants ideally should be appropriately ‘suited and booted’.
“For example a lady should not even accidentally expose an ankle. As for the gentleman Her Majesty is much persuaded by tall men in uniform! “
Applicants can apply to Jo Martindale by emailing email@example.com or call 01525 631911 for further information.
> During the Past, Present and Future Market Day visitors to the town centre can take a trip down memory lane and experience markets from Saxon and Medieval times to present day.
Visitors will have the opportunity to watch demonstrations in traditional skills such as calligraphy, basket weaving, pottery and cloth weaving.
A variety of activities for all ages will also be on offer including re-enactments, an historic pub tour around the town, jive dancing workshops, pony cart rides, historical diary extracts plus samples of Harvest Festival produce.
