Tiddenfoot customers were left frustrated when the pool was closed for over four hours on Sunday afternoon.
The swimming pool was closed from 11.45am due to a major leak in the café area.
One Facebook user posted on Spotted: Leighton Buzzard: “Arrived at Tiddenfoot with two excited children for a swim and it’s closed?! No staff to explain why and no sign on the door?!”
Lucy Gregory commented: “Serious flood in Costa area. Evacuation was necessary health and safety precaution for all staff and customers in the building.”
The swimming pool reopened at 4.30pm.
Councillor Brian Spurr, executive member for community services, said: “Unfortunately lifestyles@tiddenfoot had to close on Sunday morning between 11.45am and 4.30pm due to a major water leak in the café area, caused by an unforeseeable issue with the pipework.
“1life, who manage the centre on our behalf, acted impeccably in keeping customers informed of the closure on social media and through notices around the centre, and once it was clean and safe to reopen at 4.30pm, use of the main pool for general swimming was extended to 8pm to make up for lost time and inconvenience.”
