Making a stand on state of road

A Leighton Buzzard man is seeking nomination to become a councillor after becoming fed up with trying to get the council to fix up his road.

Frustrated Ian Purvis wants to stand in the town and Central Beds council election next year for the Labour Party for Plantation Ward and North Leighton Buzzard after battling to get the authorities to spruce up Severn Walk, Isis Walk and Purwell Walk.

Mr Purvis has repeatedly tried to contact the council over the matter, becoming desperate with the lack of a reply. He said: “I’m fed up with being ignored by the council. The road needs resurfacing, weeding, mowing and dog bins fitted because of a constant dog mess problem.”

He said he was told there wasn’t enough budget to resurface the roads.

A Central Beds Council spokesman said: “The grass was cut in the area just last week and we’re running through a programme of weed-spraying right now.”
